Sr. Communication Engineer

The ideal candidate would have design, engineering, and management experience on large-scale rail/transit infrastructure projects. Specific experience in Communications and Controls and working knowledge of rail systems and operations is very desirable, along with a good understanding of metropolitan rail operations and transit agencies.
This is a “forward-looking” position where the candidate will be expected to plan ahead, anticipate project conditions and deliver accordingly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Professional Engineering license in the state of Washington
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent; a Masters in Engineering or Business is desirable
• Project management certification or documented experience
• History of successfully meeting project deadlines and quality goals
• Ability to cultivate strong rapport with clients, project stakeholders, partner companies and other disciplines and consultants
• 10+ years of experience developing requirements and designing elements for rail communications, such as, high speed IP networks, SCADA systems, cabling systems, public address systems, variable message sign systems, radio systems, emergency ventilation systems, telephone networks, and tunnel control systems
• Directing and managing other engineers, designers and CAD personnel in the creation of specifications, calculations, drawings and reports for the implementation of rail communication systems
• Provide design services during construction for complex transit communication systems
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with large transit agencies and federal/state regulations
• Experience and Knowledge of:
NFPA Standard 72: National Fire Alarm Code and Signaling Code
NFPA Standard 130: Fixed Guideway Transit and Passenger Rail Systems
CSI Standards for Integrated Automation (25), Communications (27) and Electronic Safety and Security (28)
High Speed IP Networks
Radio Systems
Outside Plant Systems
Structured Cabling Infrastructure (copper, fiber optics, and coaxial cabling)
Voice Systems (PABXM VoIP, Public Address, Intercom)
Security (CCTV and Access Control) Systems
